A lot of folks have asked me how I got started with my music podcast, and honestly, it all sort of happened by accident. I was struggling to find good dance music for my workouts, so I decided to try mixing my own tracks. Armed with a copy of "DJing For Dummies," I put together five one-hour sets.
I'd been a fan of Apple Podcasts for a while, so when I stumbled upon Libsyn Hosting (follow this link and get up to 2 months free and use code "DANCENOW"), which is a great platform for hosting and distributing audio content, they also provide detailed analytics that allow podcasters to track various metrics, including download statistics, listener demographics such as country of origin, and even insights into which programs or apps listeners are using to download or stream episodes.
So, I figured, why not give it a shot? After uploading my first episode on Libsyn and submitting my show to Apple Podcast, I was shocked when Apple approved my debut in just few hours.
To my surprise, my dance club podcast quickly made it onto Apple Podcasts' 'New & Noteworthy' section, featured right on the front page of the music category. It was a whirlwind – tons of downloads and followers right out of the gate.
I owe a huge thanks to Apple Podcasts for taking a chance on an unknown like me. Their support gave me the opportunity to share my mixes with the world. Since then, I'm still here, loving every minute of sharing my passion for music through my podcast. It's been incredible to see my followers grow and change along with me, exploring the diverse sounds of dance music together.
